Thanks for looking at my work. I hope you enjoy it.
When I learned that the image maps for the women in Dead Or Alive eXtreme Beach Volleyball could be altered it sparked the idea that I could alter their maps to turn them into a alien babes from various sci-fi realms.
Experimentation showed that with a lot of hard work it could be done. After a week of R&D I was finally able to turn Ayane into the cyber babe. The most tricky part was getting maps to line up. Front & back torso are not 1:1, and so on.
So here's the lowdown.
Ayane = Cyber Babe (sort of Tron inspired, but different)
Christie = A Klingon type babe (suited her gruff personality, I thought)
Helena = Amphibian Alien Babe (looks so different w/o the bangs)
Hitomi = Cheetah Babe (slightly based on 'Gold Digger' comics)
Kasumi = Reptile Babe (snake or lizard skin, but in bright alien colors)
LeiFang = Cow Girl! (based on Holstein cow spots)
Lisa = Mutant (based on Mystique from the X-Men movies)
Tina = Green Alien (based on Orion Slave Girl from Classic Trek)
It was a ton of work, but a lot of fun and quite rewarding to alter them. Doing so led me to look into altering some of the other elements of the game as well. A few background elements such as the pattern on the lounge chairs, umbrellas and the name of the pool side bar were altered to reflect the now slightly alien environment.
Then I went to work on the suits. There were quite a few suits that I never cared for the pattern on so I set about making some alterations. Most were done 'quickly' where I would just run some filters on the already existing map to make them look slightly different. Targeted were any fabric patterns that were too floral or too "granny fabric" in my opinion. And since lace isn't very sci-fi I altered a lot of that type stuff into more alien grids and hex patterns. Of special note is the LeFang suit the "Emu". It is now not only more revealing but also MUCH more sci-fi feeling.
Despite my best efforts I was unable to locate or alter the womens icons (the little floating head bubble that indicates who you're selecting or who is talking) and the main game logo. If I could have found them I would have updated them as well to reflect the changes. As is you are going to have to use your imagination for those bits. SIGH. There are over a thousand files in DATADVD and over 4500 in DATAHDD and I went through all of them at least four different times to no avail. If anyone has any ideas where to find these graphics please email me at AlienDOAX@hotmail.com and I'll update them. My guess is that they are buried in some code somewhere and not stored as graphics. Who knows, maybe they're even in the fonts folder?
The zip files are not small, so you may choose not to download everything. Here's a few things to keep in mind when you are deciding.
If you want to alter your women into aliens - and nothing else, then just get the file:
DVD_GALS-only.zip
If you want the alien skins and the background elements altered you'll need these files:
DVD_All.zip
HDD_BG-only.zip
And if you want everything you'll need these files:
DVD_All.zip
HDD_All_part1.zip
HDD_All_part2.zip
The HDD all was broken into two files because each one is still over twenty megs. But considering that each one has almost a thousand files that isn't unexpected.
So what do you do with these files? ((WARNING. The following steps assume that you have already hacked your "DEFAULT.xbe" for Dead Or Alive eXtreme Beach Volleyball to allow the use of altered maps. If you have not, if you're not certain or if you don't know what that means, skip down the the end where step A will explain what and how that can be done))
1) Extract the zip file(s) into a directory. Remove this READ ME file from that directory. If you have zip files that start with DVD & HDD then you'll want to extract them into their own directorys. They will be used sepratly so should be kept separate to avoid confusion. HDD files from seperate zips can and should all go into the same directory.
2) Download & install a program called MiteeXPR (Short for Mitee ThoR's KickAss AFS/XPR Ripper Beta 3) from:

3) FTP the files DATADVD.afs and DATAHDD.afs from your DOAX game on your XBOX hard drive onto your computer hard drive. These are the files you're going to be updating. That's right, you are going to need the ability to FTP to and from your XBOX, the game in question ripped onto your XBOX hard drive, and a little patience. If you do not have these options available then this set is pretty much of no use for now. But keep them around for when you do get your XBOX chipped.
ALSO, see STEP A at the very end of the document to see another nifty tool you may want/need.
4) Launch MiteeXPR. 'Browse' the "Choose AFS/XPR File" over to the DATADVD.afs file you just FTP'd. Then 'Browse' the "Working Directory for Textures" over to the directory that you extracted your DVD files into. Hit
the "Inject!!" button. Depending on how quick your computer is the injection process could take as few as five (5) minutes or as long as an hour! But as long as MiteeXPR is showing you that it's doing its thing in the Status text at the bottom then all is well. After a time it'll give you a "All Done" type message.
4a) Repeat step four for the HDD files if you are using those as well.
5) FTP your newly updated DATADVD.afs (and/or DATAHDD.afs) back to the correct directory (where you found them in the first place) on your XBOX.
6) Fire up your XBOX in chipped mode and play the game from your hard drive with your newly altered maps! Enjoy!
ALTERING THE DEFAULT.xbe FILE, AND WHAT IT MEANS TO YOU:
This file is where the XBOX gets some basic information about the game you are about to play. The name of the game to display in the menu, for example, comes from this file. The things we are concerned about involve the ability to use altered image maps. We can also throw in some virtual money for good measure.
STEP A
Download and install a program called XBH-DXVH.exe from the guys over at:

They offer this great tool that they created, a texture pack starter kit, and a super great tutorial for texture injecting AND DEFAULT.xbe altering. Plus, their tool works so well that what I'm about to spell out here doesn't need any instructions. But I'll hit the high points anyway.
STEP B
Once you've extracted the XBH-DXVH.exe software from their archive, launch it. Use FILE -> Open to select the DEFALT.xbe you wish to update.
STEP C
Click the check boxes for the items you wish to use in your game. Want to start with almost infinite money? Use the money hack. Want your alien babes to be nude? Check the bikini Hack. Want everything in the stores to cost
1$ per item? Check the Cheap Items box. The Texture Hack and Save Hack we'll want are automatically checked for you.
STEP D
Use FILE -> Save to update your DEFAULT.xbe. A window will pop up to tell you the program is finished.
STEP E
FTP this new updated DEFAULT.xbe back to your XBOX into the same place you found it. This will make sure that your altered image maps will be used in your game when you alter the DATAHDD.afs and/or DATADVD.afs files.
SPECIAL NOTE:
You will see in the tutorial and zip file from GraphicMods that they also have an injection tool. It also works great. I just choose to use the MiteeXPR injection tool because it is a little more clear where my files are coming from and going to AND it allows you to work on the DATAHDD.afs file as well. But don't be confused that you HAVE TO use one over the other. They do mostly the same thing overall.
Here's a very incomplete list of swim suits that have been altered. Since the filenames of the images I altered have nothing to do with what the suits are called in the game I was unable to keep up with all the suits altered. Here are the highlights. Following after is a list of web links to explain what a few of these things are.
"EACH" means that there are different graphics on the suits of that series for each of the gals.
"ALL" means that one design is on the suit for all of the gals.
NORMA Now has Classic 80's Arcade Game Marquees on chest. EACH
CONDOR Tank top that used to have the Engrish "You Meet DOAX" on it. -
(AND SKIRT) Now has "Arcade Fever" 80's Arcade Icons on chest and backside. EACH
SPARROW Dark blue version of the Condor, has been updated in same manor -

ALL OF THE VOLLEY BALLS HAVE ALSO BEEN UPDATED. THEY STILL SAY 'DOAX', BUT NOW SAY IT IN A TYPEFACE CALLED ROSWELL WRECKAGE. THE 'CODEWORD' LINE HAS ALSO BEEN UPDATED TO FURTHER REFLECT THE CHANGES IN EVERYONES APPEARANCE.
ALSO OF NOTE IN ADDITION TO THE GALS HAVING BEEN REPAINTED, SO TOO HAS THE PRARIE DOG BEEN UPDATED. THE LITTLE CRITTER IS NOW PURPLE AND YELLOW AND UGLY AS HELL. BUT AT LEAST HE DOES LOOK RATHER ALIEN. :)
One last note. The womens maps are set up to be appreciated in the 'nude hack' mode (I.E. They are anatomically correct), but hopefully that won't be the only way they are appreciated. Some of the new suits are very saucy and many are interesting and will hopefully encourage 'collecting the series' for all the girls to see all of the vairiations.
However you choose to use this set I hope you enjoy it.
